A socket getting hot, a burning smell…

Situation: In summer, your family runs the air conditioner, the rice cooker and the electric kettle at the same time on one extension socket. The extension socket gets hot and smells of burning. Many house fires in Vietnam start this way.

Electrical engineers and semiconductor engineers both learn safety first: in the power industry, every job starts by switching off and locking out the supply; in a chip factory, a static spark you cannot even feel can destroy a chip.

After this lesson, you can explain when electricity is dangerous and know what to do when something goes wrong.
